My Outlaw inspired alphabet book from my Craftsmanship class.
Our assignment was to create a hand bound alphabet book with illustrations on each page correlating with a theme. My book is made using light weight watercolor paper for the pages, standard book board and premium sulfite drawing paper. For the interiors I drew each portrait with pencil then used an ink pen to line it. To add a bit of depth, I used a light ink wash that I loaded into a water pen. I then folded and bound all of the signatures together using linen thread, wax, and PVA glue. Once that was dried I used the text block to make a template for the hard binding. I then made the cover using premium drawing paper, markers and a white gel pen. After binding the pages to the cover and adding a gray piece of card stock to the interior to make it look nice, I left it under weight for a night and viola, a mini book!
The final product measures 3 inches by 3 inches with a total of 26 individual illustrations and a handmade cover.
